The spring season is
finally upon us, birds are chirping,
tulips are blooming, and trees are
budding.
It is pleasing to me that much of
the course weathered the winter and recent
saturated conditions fairly well.
I want to thank everyone for paying
attention to the cart regulations that
have been in place this spring, there has
been minimal cart damage to the course in
relation to past years.
As the spring continues, myself and
grounds crew plan to complete a few
projects on the course including; adding
sand to various bunkers throughout the
course, raising sunken irrigation lines on
fairways 5 and 7, and the elimination of a
few select fairway bunkers.
The fairway bunkers that are on the
list for elimination are on holes 3, 5 and
12.

For those of you
interested in taking care of you home
lawn, now is the time to put out a
fertilizer with crabgrass preventer.
Timing is crucial for a product
like this, as early crabgrass germination
is just around the corner.
Also, now is a good time to begin
conditioning flower beds (if you do not
have bulbs planted or possibly winter
pansies), this can be done by
incorporating sand, peat moss, or mushroom
compost into the existing soil, which will
improve the soil structure, thus
encouraging vibrant annuals in your flower
gardens this summer and many summers to
come.
Any questions regarding this or any
other turf or horticulture issue are
always welcome.
