History

Lincoln Oaks Golf Course in Crete, IL boasts a history like no other public course in the South Suburban area. Built in 1927, it was originally one of four courses at Lincolnshire Country Club.

The layout was designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Bendalow, who also designed the South Course of Olympia Fields Country Club, Naperville Country Club, and all three courses of Medinah Country Club. The 6,087 yard, par 71 golf course has undergone renovations which include adding cart paths around the entire course, as well as the reshaping of tees and fairways to enhance playability.

The course also features bent grass fairways and small greens, which will provide a good test for even the best of golfers.

In the 1960’s, Lincoln Oaks hosted the Lincolnshire Open; a one day PGA Tour event that featured the world’s largest purse for a one day event.  In addition to this, it has been a past host to U.S. Open local qualifying, the Illinois PGA Assistants Championships, and in 1996 and 1998 hosted the IPGA Titleist/Footjoy Pro-Assistant Championship.  Lincoln Oaks specializes in golf outings, conducting around 70 outings each year.
